RMC Architects Website Refresh

Website redesign • image Retouching

RMC Architects are based out of Bellingham, WA, and have a large regional presence. To compete with other local firms, they wanted to update their website to bring it into the 2020s, reflect their ethos, and make it more accessible across devices.

During the discovery phase, we learned that they were looking for something fresh and light that would give projects the spotlight while utilizing their established brand identity. In the design phase, with the help of Julie Flattery, a copywriter and marketing consultant, we conducted market research looking at similarly sized firms’ sitemaps, layouts, and content. I then sketched out wireframes and developed a sitemap to allow for clear and smooth navigation on desktop and mobile. Working with web developer, Cecile Williams, she took the mockups and built the backend of the Wordpress-based site. She then handed me the reins and I input all of the content and adjusted visuals as necessary.

Having been in business for over 35 years, the largest undertaking was migrating and updating all of RMC’s architectural projects. To do this, I built out an extensive spreadsheet that catalogs and categorizes each project based on the available copy, photography quality, and overall available information. Working in phases with copywriter and marketing consultant, Julie Flattery, we reviewed each project with the leadership team. Julie focused on updating the project information and I edited and sized all of the images based on feedback from the partners.

The result? A website that delivers on the ask for white space, a visual-driven approach, and a site that’s much more easily navigated across devices.
